Okinawa, Japan

So I figured, I started this blog and haven't really wrote about what Japan is like. So I'll tell you what Okinawa is like, because mainland Japan is a bit different. Okinawa is 65miles long at its longest point and 17 miles wide at its widest point. Now you would think that it would only take an hour to drive the whole island right? WRONG! I takes you two days of driving all day to get from top to bottom. The fastest speed you can go is about 80 KM (49-53 MPH) and that is if you pay to get on the expressway. If you decide not to pay to get on the expressway, the fastest you can go is 60KM (30-35MPH). You can't go anywhere without getting stuck behind one of the old farmers taking his daily drive going about 25KM. The Japanese will out of no where pull off the road with no warning whatsoever. You can't take the time to look for a CD or even look back at the kids, or you will rear end someone! Now we live in the country part of the island, so it's kinda like Gunnison people but not alot. We live up the road from a small farm. I can't decide if they are a dairy or if they just feed the cows. They have a few small buildings, like the size of a small, small barn and they fit about 30-40 cows/bulls in them. There is no room for them to move, so what they do is take them for walks. You will see them walking the bulls everyday. They also put them on the horse runner to eat and be able to walk around. This is hilarious to see them walking these bulls/cows. Now when the children are very small they learn to cross the road at a crosswalk and to cross they just put their arm in the air and just go. The cars know to stop. You will see kids that can't be older than 3 just walking around and hanging out with friends. All the little boys play baseball here. You will see them all year around walking around in baseball uniforms and with their bats and balls. Another funny thing is that everyone here smokes, and everyone here runs. The woman here have the longest life expectancy in the world. It so beautiful here. The grass here grows so fast, because it rains almost weekly, if not all week. Everything is so close together and small here ,so they barely use lawn mowers, at least the big ones. You will see on base, what we call weed monsters. The mamasaans weed eat almost the whole lawn. You will see them in long pants, long sleeve shirts, a towel around their face, and a large towel like hat. I don't understand how they can be out in 80 degree heat and its so humid. I have to wear shorts here. All the people here are so nice and respectful. The Japanese are extremely respectful. Well my brain is pooped, so I'll write more another day. Hope you enjoyed a little of Okinawa. Sayonara!
